Secretary-general: Action Combat Global Warming Should Begin Today
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon asked that the war against global warming cannot be delayed. The real action must be done today as well.
Ban notably called for action to Governments in 195 countries which have just agreed the Paris Agreement ' A health insurance policy for the planet '.
"Now, the action must be commenced from today," said Ban as quoted from the news agency AFP on Tuesday (15/12/2015).
"The Paris agreement is a victory for the people, for the common good and to multilateralism," she continued.
The Paris agreement indicates that economic development should be accompanied by the development of low-emission technologies. An ambition pegged, global temperature rise should not be more than 2 degrees Celsius.
The agreement will come into force by 2020. After at least 55 countries responsible for 55 on the greenhouse effect ratified the deal.
Ban stated, deal related to climate change has indeed been will be his priority since he was hired as Secretary General of the PP 2007. He always raised the issue of global warming in every meeting with the leadership of the country.
"I send alarms consistently and repeatedly told world leaders," he said.
